Hughes Northstar 80/20 40' cruiser needs a good home

Hello,

I'm looking for a good home for my 1974 Northstar 80/20. I've lived and cruised on her for almost 10 years, but I bought a house so my son could go to college and I'm liking living on land and gardening. I love my boat, she can take more than I can. She's ridden out lots of hurricanes, sailed in near hurricanes, she is tough and never let me down. Very comfortable 13'5 beam, 40' loa, solid hand laid fiberglass, never had a blister in 40 years. Sparkman and Stephens designed. Classic ketch design, with forward and aft cabins each with a private head and shower. Center cockpit, Newish heavy cruising 2 reef main and 1 reef mizzen. 135 genoa and a jib. Recent refit on the interior. New custom cedar and pecan cockpit table. Central heat and air for when you're at the dock, newish refrigerator, needs bottom paint and some paint here and there on the port topside. (scratches from docks.) Deck could use a bit of touch up paint too. Just sailed her back from Grenada about 10 months ago and she didn't give me a problem. I spent the last 3 years cruising the Caribbean. Bimini is due to be replaced. But there is a full enclosure and just the bimini top is old. Also a complete 3 piece tent for keeping the boat out of the sun in the summer, Private message me and we can talk. I am serious about making sure she has a good home. I've turned down others that I didn't think would treat her right. $40,000 before the haulout, $47k after. Negotiable to the right owner. (Someone that will live and cruise on her). Will sail with the new owner anywhere between Maine and Grenada so you can get to know the boat. I have the complete maintenance records for the past 10 years. Also have all the surveys for the past 40 years. I am the 5th owner. (Two of them didn't really count, they didn't cruise her, had her for a short time, and didn't even learn to sail her.) So really the 3rd owner.

Re: Hughes Northstar 80/20 40' cruiser needs a good home

Is this still available? I'm kind of looking early, but am retiring and moving to Florida within 6 months. I bought a condo on Bimini Basin, Cape Coral - the best Gulf access for a sailboat. I have been racing my Pearson 26 at Lake Travis for three years and have it for sale. I want a ketch at least 40' to cruise the Caribbean in, and there are people at my condo who regularly do trips I'd like to join.

Thank you!

Annie
