HYDROVANE SELF STEERING model VXA 2D L\HA manufactured in 2007 and used since 2009 when re-launched. Selling for $4000.00 and free shipping included. The vane cover is scuffed due to rubbing on the mizzen sail cover and must be repaired or replaced. This unit is in perfect working order.

This is mounted on a Roberts Spray 41 and she displaces 36,000 lbs. I am currently in Panama City, Panama.

Re: HYDROVANE SELF STEERING

Does it have the newer/larger rudder the co. claims performs better for larger displacement boats like ours?

I donīt think so, it has what was available in 2007. Maybe you can tell by the pictures.

Re: HYDROVANE SELF STEERING

Didn't see a pic of the rudder out of the water. How does it perform on your heavier boat in higher winds, esp. in downwind conditions? These are the conditions where the larger rudder was supposed to help.

Re: HYDROVANE SELF STEERING

I'm sorry, I read and reacted to quickly to your question. The rudder I purchased was what the manufacturer suggested at the time of purchase. It works very well and the reason I am selling it is because I am installing davits for my dinghy to include more solar panels and will use my hydraulic auto pilot. I don't know when the larger rudder was introduced so I can not for sure say which one I have.

Re: HYDROVANE SELF STEERING

OK, thank you for the info. I can find out from the co. which rudder they were offering in 2007.
