Now THIS is the most appealing ad I have seen on CF.

It has it all; Great Pictures, Clear Pricing, Valid Links to More Information.

Yup, based on the information available, I'd book my flight right now to see this boat.

You're such a dick. Are you even looking for a boat? Or are you just the CF boat for sale ad Nazi?

Sorry that it appears the liquid in your corn flakes was not milk.

Here is a good example of an ad that appeals, and will get responses.

I am amazed at the number of first time posters who put the most rudimentary information in an ad, and expect to sell a major asset in a bad market.

A good description, listing updates if any, some good pictures and most importantly, a price are Marketing 101.

With all the choices out there, would you not think that some thought and effort would be put into an ad, rather then working on the principle of if one flings enough poop at a fan, some will stick?

BTW, thanks for the compliment. A dick is useful

With all due respect to yourself as the OP, why would you not include the price and pictures?

The link to the ad I gave above is a boat that actually sold in a tough market. Good ad, great boat, great price and a quick sale.

Isn't that what you want yours to be perceived as? You have the added disadvantage of being in the Caribbean, so why would you not try and put as much appeal in your ad as possible?

Take if from someone who has consulted on the sale of thousands of vehicles at the upper end of the market to dealers in the United States and Canada.

Re: Irwin 34 Citation 1984

Hi Mark, just a few friendly words of advise. First of all, at least you told us where the boat is located. There is a trawler ad here that fails to mention this and there are members here from all over the world. So you did good there. Now about Avb3's post. He is right. Pictures are a big big help here. A pic of your boat would be a great idea. 4 pics would be better. Irwins have a reputation of being cheaply built boats. They have a reputation of leaking and having leaky port lights and decks. Pics of the awesome woodwork and clean decks would be manditory to even get some intrest going. The boat market is in terrible shape at this moment. There are 8 Irwin Citations for sale at this time on Yachtworld. 6 of them are offered for less than your boat, so you have to come up with some reasons that your boat is worth more than those boats are worth. You've listed those reasons in your post and those are good reasons. So show them with pictures. The other thing you will need to do is make the boat "human". Make it have personality in your description. Talk about your connection to it and share some of your moments with your Irwin. Selling a boat is a lot about fantasy. The next owner must be able to visualize himself as the captain of your boat. Your job is to make that a happy vision... I promise you that if he can't see himself sailing your boat, he won't be able to see himself paying for it either. Before you say that I'm down on Irwins, I will state that I OWN an Irwin Citation 34. They are lively and enjoyable sailboats with a shoal draft well suited for thin water. I think they are awesome. I wish you luck in your efforts to sell your Irwin.
