I was the not-so-proud owner of a Carter 39 in 1981. Sailed her one season and couldn't wait to find her a new home. These are pretty boats and solidly built. Aside from that... lots of problems. As to sailing, this provided the worst hobby-horsing experience one can imagine. The shaft is not coupled directly to the engine; it uses a hydraulic pump. As I said, lots of problems. But, at "ASKING $19,000", it may be worth a look.
