Leopard 38 (the 1998-2003 version)

After many months of studying books, looking at boats, and reading posts on this and other forums, my wife and I have decided that a Leopard 38 catamaran is at the top of our list of boats to buy. If any owners have a Leopard 38 in good condition that they are willing to sell at a decent price, please me at nadsi1 at cox dot net.

Mike .... I am sure you've already done this, but just in case, I would suggest you run a national search on Craigslist and Yacht World is a very good website. Good luck.

Re: Leopard 38 (the 1998-2003 version)

Mike,

A quick look on Yachtworld dot com shows 7 Leopard 38s.

If you expand your search to the Leopard 40, there are many more and several by Moorings Brokerage that are selling for the same or less than the Leopard 38s (except for the one in Turkey)!

Two caveats:
1) Many times the Moorings Brokerage boats have not had duty paid on them, so you need to ask about that.
2) Boats will certainly be more "worn" than a privately owned boat, so you have to look long and hard at how much you are willing and able to pay for any boat.

I never was on a Leopard 38, but chartered a Leopard 43 (same designer) in 2009. Friends chartered a Leopard 40 the same week--I preferred the Leopard 40.

Good luck in your search.

Marshall
