Lewmar Delta Fast-Set Anchor

Simpson-Lawrence (Lewmar) Galvanized Self-Launching Delta Anchor

This is the original delta “fast-set” anchor. Weight 16 kg/35 lbs. It was standard equipment on a 2002 Seawind 1000 catamaran, but was removed after about three years of use (and replaced with a Rocna). It has been stored in the garage since. It still has remnants of the original stickers. It has one small area of rust (on the end of the bar, shown in the picture) that can be easily remedied with a wire brush and a shot of galvanized paint. I chose not to paint any of the anchor so that you can see it is absent rust, and not just covered up with paint like some others have done.

Best price I found on this was $275 on Defender. Want $100 firm for mine. Anything less and its worth keeping as a storm anchor. I live in Houston but have a boat in Clear Lake, so can meet either location for pickup.

Here’s what Lewmar site says about the anchor: “Its unique shank profile and ballasted tip make the Delta anchor self-launching. The low centre of gravity and self-righting geometry ensure that the Delta anchor will set immediately. Consistent and reliable in performance, the Delta anchor has Lloyd's Register Type Approval as a High Holding Power anchor and is specified as the primary anchor used by numerous National Lifeboat organizations. All Delta anchors are "guaranteed for life against breakage".

Great anchor!

Unless your sailing a Sunfish I wouldn't consider that particular Delta a "storm anchor".

Re: Lewmar Delta Fast-Set Anchor

My 35 lb. Delta, the largest anchor that would fit in my anchor
locker, serves as my storm anchor on my +-10,000 lb.
loaded 30 fter. that loves to yaw when anchored.
Has held overnight in 50 knots.
As in all things, what was is no guarantee of what will be.
I don't get cut of proceeds when above anchor is sold!

I have the same anchor with 25 feet chain and new rode and felt very comfortable on it in a 26 footer with it blowing 35 or more many many times but I was in the boat in case it drug.
I wouldn't leave it in a storm unnattended with that anchor.
I think most people wouldn't consider it a storm anchor.

It is a great anchor btw.

Re: Lewmar Delta Fast-Set Anchor

Wow, so I never should have mentioned a storm anchor backup? Lesson learned. I know one person who used this anchor in a storm to keep his light-weight catamaran pulled away from the dock. I also have a Rocna with a lot of chain to do the same. The thing that I really miss about using the Lewmar on the Seawind is the self-launching feature. (Of course, after releasing the chain, lest anyone want to comment on how dangerous an anchor is that can launch itself at will!)

If anyone is interested in the anchor, please PM me or post a reply. While I don't mind the storm anchor replies running this thread back up to the top, it really was my intention to post an ad to sell the anchor, not start a thread on appropriate storm anchors.

Re: Lewmar Delta Fast-Set Anchor

Anchor sold today. Not to be used as a storm anchor, but to replace one on a fishing boat that got released in deep water, but someone forgot to tie off the bitter end. Ouch!
