I hope your "dock sale" is going well, Sean.

When I posted here awhile back, I stated that I had placed a bid on one item. It was your Cruising Guide to the Maine Coast, and I had placed a bid at 1/2 the new price.

The auction ended last Wednesday, and when I checked eBay that evening, I learned I'd been outbid - by nine cents! Well, that's the way it goes.

Interestingly, this morning I received an email from eBay informing me that a bid had been placed higher than mine, and that if I wanted the item I should increase my bid

Puzzled, I went to eBay and confirmed that the auction had indeed ended and I'd been outbid by $0.09, so I rechecked the email from eBay. Sure enough, it had been sent on Wednesday, shortly before the auction ended, only arriving in my inbox today.

What do I conclude from this? That email is devolving to match the level of incompetence of the United States Postal Service.

ha ha... that's pretty funny, TaoJones.

I guess that's the nature of eBay. One guy bought a bunch of stuff from the marine yard sale and the book was one of the things he won. I'd still suggest that book as something very interesting to read. The local info is well presented and there is a lot of history (as well as all the marine stuff you need to know).

All the auctions are over for that slew of stuff. Next up, I'll have a diesel heater and a bunch of other random stuff. The storage unit is *almost* 1/4 empty!
