Thanks Dan...she is lovely. We've had 6 wonderful years with her. Will be very sad to see her go. She's going back in the water today after servicing, cleaning polishing and anti-fouling...so ready to cross Oceans!

Will you consider trading for land in USA, on Dauphin Island AL for her?

Re: Moody S38 1997 Lying Sardinia

Thanks for the offer ...but we are looking to buy a small boat we can keep in our local marina and have some cash in the bank.

Dauphin Island...looks lovely, if a bit subject to hurricanes!

Re: Moody S38 1997 Lying Sardinia

Thanks, she is beautiful... Never know until you ask.

Hurricanes, are a pain when they hit. We don't get many really bad ones.
It is a lot of work getting secured for the blow.
In 55 years here I have seen maybe about three really bad ones. Some are rain events, some are tide events, some are just a good strong gale, but a few are amazing with all elements combined and seem to have about 12 hours duration.
Camile and Frederic were the most memorable. I missed George.

The winds force or effective energy increase is exponential with the wind speed not a linear one as you sailer's know. I don't even worry until the wind speed becomes greater than 125 MPH sustained. Anything less and most structures are OK.

I choose the lot on Dauphin Islands location because that is where the homes survive.

Good luck to you!

Re: Moody S38 1997 Lying Sardinia

Thanks for your interest. We love travelling...being sailors...and would love to visit Alabama some day. Only managed New York, a tour of California/Arizona and Hawaii so far. All very enjoyable.

We love the power of being in the elements...on a boat you trust...and getting through to the other side. It was amazing for us to arrive in a tiny port in northern Morocco, and think we had sailed to Africa...we have had many wonderful adventures and met many wonderful people that we will never forget. The poorest people are generally the most hospitable and welcoming. When you arrive in a sail boat to a small community, generally everyone in 50 miles knows about it. We have some stories to share with our grandkids!
