Navik Windvane

I have a navik windvane in good condition except is missing the linkage piece between the upper wind vane and bell crank attached to the grim tab unit. (was going to make one with a tent pole)I have the grim tab linkage pieces. Also the gears that lock the wind angle are missing, but you can freely rotate the piece and perhaps a set screw or lines to control. A guy in Denmark I believe Mr Vane is selling parts.

Toyed with the idea of mounting this on my cats, but have heard they don't hold up well at higher speeds.

Been planning to list on ebay but thought I'd see if any interest here first.

Will get some pictures tomorrow.

$400 can ship

Re: Navik Windvane

Do you still have the Navik? Any pics? I'm over in Tallahassee, so could work out. Not sure what parts are needed, but will check Mr. Vee and look at a pic on there.

Re: Navik Windvane

tape measure inserted to show missing rod pathway. I think a fiberglass pole with 2 small sockets will work. I have one or two small ball sockets from some autopilot parts I can give you.

Re: Navik Windvane

I don't think the controller is too big a deal. Can probably even use stainless rod. Doesn't have to be heavy. Just have to spend some time fabricating it. What gears are you talking about, that are missing. Other than that, does is operate easily. Not frozen up or anything. I did go to the Mr. Vee website. They apparently have the control rod, but didn't see any gears listed. Looks like the vane was snapped off also, at some point.

Ok, I found another photo and see where the adjusting knob is missing.

Re: Navik Windvane

There are some gears that go up at the top under the windvane. I was going to just use a set screw as I would have been able to reach it from the boat. It's all free and easy, but not worn. These have a lot less moving parts than a monitor or Aries.
