Need to sell my boat trailer

Hi everyone,

I need to sell my boat trailer, not sure what's/where is best place to do so?

I have a galvanized, in good condition, w/ new tires trailer. Not sure the exact size but it once had a 26ft boat on it.

advise?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Need to sell my boat trailer

Maybe let us know what country and city you are located in?

Is the trailer for a power boat or sail boat?

How much do you want for it?

Re: Need to sell my boat trailer

mpewpew, You need to post a complete and accurate description of the trailer, including pictures, location and price. Since most trailers have been woefully neglected, I have developed a checklist that I use when looking at a prospective trailer to purchase to ensure that it will serve my needs before I drive hundreds of miles to look at it. I don't want to have to overhaul the trailer in a strange town prior to returning home with it. Bear in mind that trailers have to be able to fit many different and unique types and shapes of boats.
CHECKLIST
What is the gross vehicle weight (GVW) of the trailer? Found on the data plate
What is the weight of the trailer? Found on the data plate or on the title
What is the payload capacity of the trailer? Found on the data plate or GVW minus the trailer weight
What is the length of the trailer from the hitch to aft end?
What is the length of the trailer from the bow support to the aft end?
What is the width of the trailer between the wheel fenders?
What is the total width of the trailer to the outside of the wheel fenders?
How does the trailer support the boat (bunks / pads / rollers) and are they adjustable?
How recently have the wheel bearings been repacked with marine grease?
If not recently, would you be willing to have the repacked prior to my arrival at my expense?
Do the wheel hubs have Bearing Buddies on them?
Does the trailer have working brakes? If so, what type - compression or electric?
Does the trailer have a tongue extension? If so, how long?
What is the tire condition (tread - sidewalls) and are they properly inflated?
What is the hitch ball size? What is its height above the ground with the trailer level?
What type of electrical connector (flat four / six pin / seven pin) does the trailer have?
Do all of the trailer lights work properly?
Do you have a properly executed title in your name?
Is the trailer currently licensed for road travel?
I am sure that this august body can add to my list. The more detail you can supply (with a few meaningful pictures) the sooner you will sell your trailer at a better price with minimum hassle! Good luck! George

Hellk and Ty very much GordMay. Many nice trailer able ones out there for sale and they do not have trailers with them. I don't want to modify the one with my fishing boat since that's for sale and only 17' I do. It think it will work with something in the 22ft range.

Re: Need to sell my boat trailer

Thank you GTS, as I am new to this I was looking for advise on how to sell the trailer. I will go by this checklist you've provided and come back with the answers. For now I've posted pictures of the trailer and it's location.

More to come

Re: Need to sell my boat trailer

mpewpew, That is a nice looking powerboat or retractable centerboard sailboat bunk type trailer, without modification. Since she is tandem axle and they are probably 3500lb axles, she should have a GVW of around 6500 - 7000 lbs. The tires appear to be in good shape and the axle hubs do have Bearing Buddies installed (allows you to pump marine grease into the hub to fill voids with grease to displace water, does not lubricate the bearings). She appears to have a 2" ball and the coupler appears to contain a hydraulic / compression braking piston, since most states require brakes on any trailer with a GVW of over 3000 lbs. Her jack stand is of the heavy duty swivel type, which allows you to swivel it 90 degrees as soon as the wheel is clear of the ground. The coupler / ball height above the ground with the trailer level is important whenever you have more than one axle so that the weight is evenly distributed onto the multiple axles. She appears to be a very nice trailer and should make a welcome addition to someone's stable. Hope some of this helps! gts1544 - George
