Needed Valiant 40 Mainsail

Need a Valiant 40 main: Luff 45. Foot 15. Newer is better. Will do minor repairs. Ideally a thick battenless cruising main. Will pay for shipping.

A little small for what I need, and a little light. But thanks for posting- I will let you know if I get no other offers.

Re: Needed Valiant 40 Mainsail

G'Day NEwt,

Have you checked the various used sail vendors? They have thousands of sails between them, and may just have what you need.

But be advised: it is pretty hard to get a used main that really fits well. There are too many variables besides just the edge dimensions... things like allowance for mast prebend, tack offset, reef heights (if your reefing setup has fixed blocks on teh boom). Even a sail from another Val 40 might not be all that compatible, for folks make changes to things (including the OEMs) over the years.

Used foresails and kites are easier, but it is still hard to get just what you want. Sometimes the savings make compromises worthwhile, sometimes not.

Good luck, mate!

Jim

Re: Needed Valiant 40 Mainsail

Thanks Jim,
One guy has contacted me from a sister boat with a main. I know what you say. I have been looking through used sails from vendors for about 6 months now.
