Newport 28

I have owned this newport 28 for 25 years. I am hoping to buy larger sailboat soon hence the sale. The boat hull was built in 1977 but titled as a 1978. It requires some work because I am used it as primarily as a day sailor for the past ten years. The atomic four has never failed me, I think I might have put 150 hours on the motor since I have owned it. It comes with three sails (main and 2 gennies). The boat is fast and has enough head room for me (I am six foot).
The boat is located on the hard on the lower Potomac. For $4k one cannot go wrong.

Hi, you may or may not consider this a waste of time but...
Could you send me some info and pic's/ inventory as to work needed to be done to your boat and general state of interior.... I am interested in her but need to sell my boat 1st...
Is she in good enough condition to sail down to Oriental, NC as is?... I'd want to do any refitting there..
Whats the cost to get her afloat....?
Many Thanks,
Phil
PS; is an atomic4 petrol...?

Hi Boat Man

I would have no problem bringing the boat to NC. Although I am amatuer mechanic, the atomic 4 runs great (in my opinion) . It has gotten very little use in the years that I have owned the boat. The boat does need maintenance. For example the pumps for the freshwater galley and head sinks need installed/fixed.I took out the marine head and installed a portpotttie, I would probably put in new points/plugs/belt for a long trip. The batten pockets on the main need repaired.
I have payed the fees to have the boat launched next spring.
The atomic four is a gasoline powered engine.
The boat sails great. I have sailed up a 60 foot wide channel with the wind on the nose when my prop was fouled (received much applause from the marina owners until my sheet caught the winch handle flip it into the drink).
I can send you photos if you send me an e-mail address.
I am currently on a boat hunting trip in the southeast so my responses may not be immediate.
Thanx for the inquiry
