Re: Nicholson 31

Sweet! If it was in California I'd be a buyer!
And this is a really great counter example for those naysayers on the forum who insist you can't get a world cruiser for under $100,000!

Re: Nicholson 31

A crib of these boats are made in South Africa where they are called Morgan 31 because the original was built for Charlie Morgan who incidentally also drove a Morgan car. The specs are the same.
In the 90's we were the third moorings crew to have owned a Morgan/Nic 31 and sailed the Atlantic . Gulf Dreamer,Gambol and Gone with the wind.
I'm sure many more have circumnavigated since then.
Highly recommended "pocket cruiser"

Re: Nicholson 31

Very interesting! Never heard of the Morgan 31.
Quick search on the internet: I had the impression the superstructure is somewhat different.
Do you still own it?

Re: Nicholson 31

Dani
In SA hard Bimini's are not fashionable !
We sold Gulf Dreamer to a diesel mack in the BVI in 1996. She was launched in 1977, sailed from Cape Town to New York in the 80's and sailed back to Cape town in 1992 when we bought her.
Ours had twin fore stays for twin foresails. I remember one night being woken by all the noise. Up on deck I found out we were sailing at 11 knots. The crew hadn't thought to shorten sail. Anyway with just single gib we maintained 5kn that night.
Like ourselves the other crews moved up to bigger boats, charter and private owners.
Incidentaly our morgan was the plug
