O'Day 40 130% Genoa

I used to own O'Day 40 #151. I had Rowse build me a set of cruising sales when I took delivery of the boat but after couple of years I replaced them with racing sails. I still have the genoa from the set, having let the full battened main go with the boat when I sold it.

I=52', J=15.25, P=46, E=13.25 I'm sure you could also cut it down to make a jib or a genoa for a smaller boat.

I laid it out on the lawn and its in great shape, with nice elkhide on the corner rings and all the stitching in good shape. They were only used two seasons. If anyone is interested in buying it, I'll let it go for a song just to get the bag out of my closet.

Send me mail if you are interested and I'll send some pictures.

Rick

Re: O'Day 40 130% Genoa

Rick, Can you provide the luff, leech and foot dimensions please? What is the luff attachment method? (hanks or luff tape) If luff tape, what size is it? Can you send photos to replusted at aol dot com? Thanks

I'll try to get that and send it. Its luff tape with a foam luff for a harken furling system with grooved extrusion.

Re: O'Day 40 130% Genoa

OK... a few of you requested some info: The luff is 49' 6" and has a bolt rope / luff tape setup with a foam luff to facilitate roller furling. The foot of the sail is 20'8". I don't have the J dimension, but sometimes the foot matters on some boats due to fixed genoa blocks, etc..

Some pictures...

Re: O'Day 40 130% Genoa

Thanks for the information you provided. I still need the leech dimension so that I can determine the clew height and the lead angle to the genoa lead block. It will also be needed to calculate the sail LP as it pertains to my boat. Thanks.

I'll see if I can find the records, but its now raining here in MA and I really don't want to drag it out on the lawn to measure the leech until it dries out.
