Dear CrusiersForum -

I found a convenient hole in the front engine cover on my Perkins 103-6. Due to a broken water pump">raw water pump that went unnoticed for some time, there was corrosion and now I am in a real bind. The mechanic working on the boat says it will be impossible to weld, and that I need to find a used engine cover.

Anyone on the forum know where I can find a broken down Perkins 103-6? I've tried every city in Craigslist in the South East. Nothing there. Does anyone know of any diesel distributors, boat yards and marinas that I could call and maybe have some luck with?

Perkins make Volvo. Try Volvo it may fit.

I suspect your engine is one of the Japanese engines made by Shibaura and distributed by Perkins. Perkins has re-sold many of the Shibaura engines into everything from tractor companies to industrial machines and companies like Volvo for marinizing.. With a little research I am sure you can find sister engines to yours with less expensive parts.

The engine on our boat is a Westerbeke but she began life as a Mitsubishi SL42. I have the full industrial parts book for our engine and the parts are literally 1/3 the cost of what I'd pay from Westerbeke.......

They help me out a lot with my Perkins M60.

Ahh, Ive fixed some most would throw away, with a few pieces if tin can and some brazeing rod !! Just sayin most everythings fixable !!
