Perkins 4-236 Stainless Heat Exchanger - New

This has been bolted on but never even used. The last owner of the boat we purchased allowed water into the engine so engine ended up scrapped. However, the heat exchanger is perfect. Hoping someone out there needs one. I know these things get pricey ... We are not trying to ask the world for this one and frankly are not sure where we should be price wise. Let me know if you are interested and we can go from there. Make an offer anyway. Probably $20 dollars or more to ship within the states. John: 310-344-9372

Re: Perkins 4-236 Stainless Heat Exchanger - New

Just a note,

This is not a Perkins 4.36 heat ex/changer.

The 4.36 is a 4 cylinder...

note 1. There are only 2 exhaust ports in the picture.

note 2. This is not an heat E/X. no tube bundle.

note 3. This is an water cooled 2 cylinder exhaust manifold.

note 4. This may or may not be a Perkins 2 cylinder, after market exhaust manifold???????

Certainly not a Perkins OEM. What ever it is?

Lloyd

Re: Perkins 4-236 Stainless Heat Exchanger - New

Thank you for the post. I know it is off the Perkins 4-236 cause I removed it and it is an aftermarket design. Will call manufacturer on Monday so I can understand better the particular 4-236 it matches to as it does not match the one on a friend's boat. I will post the details once I get them. Again, thank you.

Re: Perkins 4-236 Stainless Heat Exchanger - New

this could be for a 4.107 or 108, the head has one exhaust port for two cylinders. the 200 series has individual exhaust ports.

Why ?

Why try to sound so authoritative about something you know nothing about ? Not helpful !

I have a Perkins 4.236M and can tell you with certainty that there are only two exhaust ports.

Have a look at the parts manual attached.

sailorsocal:
Do you have any other parts for sale ? I'm looking for injectors, water pump, starter, etc.

No. The engine was half covered with water. Everything else I kept for spares or let go. Sorry. It was ugly. Guy broke his back and engine left flooded for over a year.

Re: Perkins 4-236 Stainless Heat Exchanger - New

I just got a boat with a 4-236 and will be doing an overhaul on the engine. How much do you want for the heat exchanger? Can you pm me your phone number?

Re: Perkins 4-236 Stainless Heat Exchanger - New

I hope the buyer got what he wanted. That heat exchanger would definately NOT fit my Perkins 4.236. I know because I just went through this ordeal about 5 months ago. My Perkins was built in 1982 and though they have not changed the model number, Perkins has changed the design of the engine so that a new model heat exchanger will not fit an older model engine.
I am having my old heat exchanger rebuilt and if anyone needs one for an older 4.236 let me know.
