project catamaran wanted

I live on a 32' Islander monohull and am looking for a project catamaran to buy or trade.

I am looking for a 34'-40' sailing cat. I am on a strict SS budget so something like a storm damaged boat or something neglected or abandoned for slip fees.

2 years ago I got this islander for 3,200 that had been sitting in a slip for 8 or more years. Too far gone to sell and too much work for the owner. I am presently in Mobile Bay doing bottom paint so will be in this area for awhile and cruising eastward.

It needs to be floating with intact deck and hulls, mast, standing rigging.

For the right price it doesn't even need engines or sails.

Oh, and a clear title.

If you have a cat that you can't take care of, can't afford to maintain or use let me give it a new life. I am not a stranger to major refit work so make me an offer I can't refuse.

Re: project catamaran wanted

This boat is available. I believe there is negotiation room on the asking price. At one time this boat sailed all over the caribbean. Many trips to the bahama in the last few years but she is now in need of serious attention. I can't attach a photo here, but the listing has over 40 and gives a realistic picture of the current condition.

Good luck in your search.

Re: project catamaran wanted

hehe...he paid $3200 for the 32' islander...I don't think that's what he's looking for

Anything is possible, but I really think you'll be hard pressed to get what you want...everyone wants a cat so the prices stay high. I've looked for several years. Even post-hurricane wrecks are worth many times the equivelant monohull.

Re: project catamaran wanted

You know...I took a real look at that boat and it's probably a good project. I'd have to walk it and see what the real bottom line is, but I might have bought that boat instead of building mine. I'll hand it to the brokers, they didn't just take the most flattering pics, I think you can get a real idea of the boat. Also...a few days of CLEANING and ORGANIZING could add a LOT of $$$ to that boat!
