Prop

Looking for a three blade, 17" Dia, 14" pitch RH on a 1.25" shaft.

Any sources for a good used prop?

Re: prop

Haven't check anywhere, don't even know what Minniey's is. I'm real new at this sailboat stuff.
All I know is I can only get 2700 RPM, should see 3600 RPM. Haven't verified the tach yet though and wanted an idea as to price and availability of a used prop, but I'm pretty sure I'm overpropped.
Folding / feathering and adjustable props I'm sure are out of my price range

Re: prop

A64pilot, Minney's is an amazing yacht surplus, used parts, used sails store in Costa Mesa, CA. Always worth a look and often a resource for hard to find stuff for older boats. http://minneysyachtsurplus.com

I'm assuming what I have is the original prop that has been re-pitched , way overpitched.
But if I can pick one up used for not a whole lot, then why not? Not sure how much a spare prop would be needed as mine is pretty well protected, but hey why not?
It has everything to do with what I can get a used one for, if I can get a used one for just a little more than having mine re-pitched then why not?
Then I don't know what an overhaul / re-pitch costs. What is done to a fixed pitch prop to overhaul it anyway?

Re: Prop

A modern shop is computerized. balance readouts, pitch is measured and set, resurfaced etc. $250. A used prop is going to cost you $450.
