Not to be snotty, but if it has never been mounted or used, what happened to the powder coat around the chain hole and at least one of the mounting feet? In my experience, once the powder coat has been breached the rest will follow soon thereafter.

Hi, From what I can tell most are using either 5/16 in chain or 3/8 in chain with it.

The photos show the scratches on one edge of one of the mounting
holes on the base of the Windlass. As said this is Brand New and
Never Used (but is about 40 years old having been in storage for a
voyage that never happened. Scratches on the edge from storage only.
Never had chain run thru it and has never been mounted.
