Curiosity value only........ The non standard red switch on the 710 unit?
I'm in market for SSB set up but unfortunately being in Oz, I think the 710 is preprogrammed with some US frequencies.
"The M710 was once sold in 2 versions. One version included ham radio transmit and a 2182 kHz alarm, and the other version did not. As of July 2002, there is only one version of the IC-M710 available -- it includes ham radio transmit (proper amateur radio license required for use), and the 2182 kHz alarm is now available as an option." - taken from an Aussie radio website. Furthermore, the aussie icom website indicates the m710 as being "export to US only" regrettably ruling me out as I live in Oz.
But still curious about the red switch?

I have no idea what it's for. I never used the radio.

Where in Michigan are you located? Are the items with you or on the boat still?

Thanks,

Matt

Re: SSB, Tuner, Weatherfax

Kalamazoo. The stuff is here with me.

I've had quite a few inquiries so to clear up the common questions:
I didn't need the ssb as I have a KVH FB500 installed for internet and VOIP. I also don't want to take the classes to learn how to use the ssb.

The connecting wiring was pulled through pvc conduit and then terminated so the wiring between the units could not be removed.

I had turned the equipment on and it all seemed to work but lacking any knowledge of how to operate it, I never sent or received anything.

I'm going down to st. Maarten next week and will bring back the manuals and roughly 10 rolls of fax paper.

Re: SSB, Tuner, Weatherfax

I see Alex beat me to it, but if he doesn't need the weather fax, would you sell just the weatherfax?

I tried using just a reciever to get the weather, but I'm having a hard time setting this us. The weatherfax would make this easier.
