Standard Horizon CP-170C GPS

So the new boat has a mount for a Standard Horizon GPS / either CP-150 or -170CP. I'm not totally sure whether these units are interchangeable but Standard Horizon has given up the GPS market so I need to try and find a New or good Used head unit. I will buy a complete NOS model or just the head as long as it is fully functional.

Figured it's worth a try vs. pulling the new wire and fabbing new mounts.

Some times you get lucky!? Thanks

Thanks DDabs. Good thinking. The logical choice. I'll keep scouring. It'll show up.
Best,
Rob

Mine is set to be retired and give up its real estate to an AIS perhaps the summer... if you don't find one... message me... I'll give it to you free... you pay the shipping.

Thanks Sandero! I will keep you on my 'hit list' if nothing else surfaces.
Are you otherwise pleased with the unit?

Re: Standard Horizon CP-170C GPS

It was my first plotter... before my radar died and I got a ray MFD and added the GPS and charts. The Ray was a bit better... but the difference was not significant. The CP170 is fine... no problem... fires right up with a fix with external antenna.

I've been in a 30 year process of renewing and upgrading and so on the electronics on board. I will add a Vesper Watchmate to take the spot of the CP170. I now have a B&G T7 which is not mounted but portable and with a self contained antenna it is my cockpit based plotter... so I have a back up plotter... both use the same charts.

I'd like to do the AIS in June... so keep in touch... you'll get charts and antenna of course. I don't know if I have the mounting bracket.

Re: Standard Horizon CP-170C GPS

Sandero, That sounds excellent. I have the mounting bracket on the boat. Prior owner said the unit was stolen along with his charts. I still have a feeling he lost it in his basement. We haven't had much in the way of break-ins and why take the unit w/o the cable and antenna?

I will definitely make myself a note to get back with you in June and see how you are making out!
thanks,
Rob

I have a CP180i new in the box(Hurricane Ike stopped the install). If it will fill your needs let me know. Haven't set a price yet.
Thanks

Rob,
As far as I am concerned.... the unit has your name and address on it. I need to get through the Spring projects before I send her to you. A hole in the nav station would drive me nuts. Have a look!

Re: Standard Horizon CP-170C GPS

Sandero,
I envy your nav station set up! The PSC31 has a stand-up nav area over the ice box. Guess I spend enough time sitting at the helm anyway...
Let me know when you get around to making the change and I'll take care of all shipping and a kick back for your generosity!
Best,
Rob
