I think the Handler stopped manufacture about a decade ago.

If you're not too particular about your brand of Kort nozzle, you can get the plastic Prop Guard from getaprop.com -- and they also sell through EBay.

I've wanted to give one of these a try, but, being a terrible cheapskate, I keep putting off the purchase. . . .

We had one on our Honda 50. Man were they expensive, but worth every stinking penny!

We put one on our honda 40 it was expensive thru.propguard, almost 300. We dropped about 500 rpms at same speed but it.seems to also add extra drag and catches every piece of dead grass around... Nice that we wont be hurting any manattees ....

Re: "The Handler" Prop Nozzle for 9.9 Yamaha

The Handler doesn't really resemble the prop guard. The handler was a foil shaped ring built out of aluminum with about an eighth inch of clearance between the prop edge and the Handler. We noticed a great increase in thrust, lower rpms for the speed traveled and about a 30% savings in fuel. All that for a little over $1,000. Thank god it was for a single screw cat and not twin screw. I would like to find out more about the Propguard.

Re: "The Handler" Prop Nozzle for 9.9 Yamaha

I read that Duckworks article and was considering making my own Kort nozzle. . . . Till I got to this part:

"Suddenly the engine started to labor a lot harder, there was a funny sound from the hull then a shudder then the engine took off went immediately to its usual full speed sound. I looked behind me and was aghast to see my beautifully crafted nozzle shattered in pieces and strewn out behind the boat! We stopped, tilted up the engine, and yes there nothing left of the nozzle on the engine. Not a single piece. It had fairly well exploded and disintegrated totally."

So, if you build your own, don't use the bamboo embroidery rings!

Re: "The Handler" Prop Nozzle for 9.9 Yamaha

I have a stainless steel "Propeller Line Guard" that is sized for a Yamaha 9.9 with high-thrust prop. Would sell for $150 plus shipping.
I used it only for about two months, and it is in like-new condition. I would email some pictures if requested. PM me if interested.

Thanks for the offer of the "propeller line guard", but I'm after a "HANDLER PROP NOZZLE" for increased thrust benefits. Good luck selling.

Well, still no luck locating one these. I have decided to make one out of foam/carbon fibre. Would someone be able to send the dimensions of a Handler that fits a Yamaha 9.9 4stroke high thrust engine. I will measure my prop size and post here. Some pics would also be helpful.

There is a lot of engineering and close tolerances are required to make a kort nozzle that performs well. Anything less and you will add drag to the detriment of overall performance. Likely you will not produce a good result the first attempt, or even the second or third. Have fun trying.
