Unusual Giant Mosquito Net with Tailored Edges

This giant mosquito net with tailored edges is perfect for a person with the creativity to put it to good use.

WHAT I DON’T KNOW: Exactly how many holes per square inch, the exact material (it’s soft), the exact size. I tried to get a decent close-up photo so you can judge for yourself.

I’ve searched in vain trying to find the vendor who sold this to us. My recollection is that
my sweetheart ordered 100 feet of the widest they had (144”?). He then used Sunbrella fabric to strengthen the edges. The intent was to throw this over the bimini to enclose the cockpit when needed. (It was the cockpit on a 48’.) We had just gotten brand new glass that enclosed the cockpit, and he was going to place grommets in the edges to match where they were on the boat for the glass. (A giant of a man; he thought of everything and knew how to make what he wanted work, too.) He passed away before this was completed; thus this was never used.

I’ll include the canvas bag as it works well for storage use.

Asking $300 or make an offer; thanks.

LOCATED IN GAINESVILLE, FL

Re: UNUSUAL GIANT MOSQUITO NET WITH TAILORED EDGES

The question would be whether it's fine enough to keep no-see-ums out.

Re: Unusual Giant Mosquito Net with Tailored Edges

Sorry about the loss of your husband.

You said it isn't complete, you meant the grommets are not installed or that the canvas trim isn't complete? Rough size of your cockpit, 10x13..?
Thanks
Erika

Re: Unusual Giant Mosquito Net with Tailored Edges

Hi, Trim is done; grommets not installed. Beam was 13'9", and I think your rough guess at 10' would be pretty darn close.
Blessings,
Linda

Re: Unusual Giant Mosquito Net with Tailored Edges

The netting looks like typical noseeum net, and instead of grommets, you could add weights if you wanted.

Too small for me ;-(

Now THAT'S the creativity I was talking about - yes, you most certainly could use weights to keep her in place. And thank you for looking closely at the netting. I'm fairly certain that's what we got, but w/o being 100% on it, I didn't want to falsely advertise in case I was wrong.
Sorry it's too small for your use and I very much appreciate you writing - thank you.

Re: Unusual Giant Mosquito Net with Tailored Edges

Hi, Badsanta, I am not "with" the netting at the moment. I will contact someone who is, and get back to you with his guesstimate just as soon as I hear back from him. Thanks so much, and have a great day!

I may be interested if you can get the dimensions.
Thanks.
