Want To Buy: Volvo Transmission wanted!

I am in need of a transmission for an MD7A, but I believe that the tranny from the MD6 series, and the seldom seen MD10 are the same. It calls for an MSB transmission. If you have an old seized up or worn out engine with a usable transmission, please let me know. Thanks, _____Grant.

Sometime in the next week or two I will be pulling an MD2B with a type MS transmission (1.91-1 ratio). I am no 100% sure if that will work for the MD7A.

But it and the engine will be available in the San Diego area soon.

Where are you located? Always a good idea when looking for gear or parts to give your location. There is an old yanmar single(horizontal) laying on the deck of an old boat here in Fl that can be had for taking it off. Engine was frozen, condition of tranny unknown.

I learned from a very helpful Volvo dealer (Helmut Marine in San Rafael) that only a trnas from an MD6 or MD7 will fit. I have been offered a couple from MD2Bs but they wont work. Darn!!! ____Grant.

I saw a engine/transmission in Toronto area a while ago. $6,500. WOW!

Thanks for the tip. Dealers think Volvos are gold plated. One of our CF members sold an MD7A to a dealer recently for $500. I called the dealer a week or two later , and he wanted $1495 just for the transmission. I guess a spray can of Volvo green made it much more valuable. I am not in a big hurry, so I can keep looking. __Thanks,______Grant.

Well , I picked up a transmission for my MD7A today, and it is attached to a somewhat complete MD6B, so I will be parting out some MD6B parts over the next few weeks. Thanks to all that gave me leads on finding what I needed. ______Grant.
