Want to Rent Strut Pro

Does anyone in coastal Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire have a Strut Pro they are willing to rent out? It allows cutlass removal with the prop shaft in place.

I want to remove the prop shaft from my Pearson 31-2, but I cannot slide the shaft past the rudder without first removing the cutlass bearing. With the cutlass bearing is removed, I'll have just enough wiggle room to slide the shaft past the rudder.

Why not just pull the rudder? And while it's out you can inspect the rudder shaft.

Re: Want to Rent Strut Pro

I have 3 projects on the agenda for the off season (prop shaft/motor mounts, keel bolts re-torque/keel-hull joint seal, and topside fiberglass. I was hoping not to add another. But after all is said and done, it may be easier and cheaper to drop the rudder.

Re: Want to Rent Strut Pro

I did have the same problem with mine but I rebuilt the whole boat. One of the changes I made was to add in a two piece strut. So now if I have to pull a shaft I brake away the glass and filler and unbolt the lower half. It's in my blog .. 2011 "New Stern Tube". And redo the filler/glass again if need be.

Re: Want to Rent Strut Pro

I like it. Inspired.

At some point I'll have the boat in my backyard next to the work shop, and then I'll be able to reek some real havoc.

I think it was a Cal 33-2 we looked at that had a slightly offset strut for this reason.
