West Marine AIS 1000 Class B Transponder/Receiver

The unit is in excellent condition and working great. I upgraded to one with WiFi built in. This unit works great with Raymarine E series which I use and many other chartplotters thru NMEA 0183 connection.

Comes with cables, but I am re-using the GPS antenna, so you'll have to buy your own and also integrate with a VHF antenna. You will also have to reprogram with your own MMSI info.

Re: West Marine AIS 1000 Class B Transponder/Receiver

I thought AIS transceivers were a one time use device? Meaning that you cannot reprogram most of them for a new boat, and the ones you can reprogram have to go back to the factory? Please correct me if I am wrong?

Re: West Marine AIS 1000 Class B Transponder/Receiver

I just got this info from West Marine for those interested...

I've attached all available documentation for the AIS 1000. Unfortunately, reprogramming must be done by the manufacturer. There is a $50 fee for this service. Another option is to change the information attached to the MMSI number and leave the number in the unit alone. Get in touch with one of our techs at 1-800-BOATING (262-8464) if you'd like to inquire about the reprogramming service. You'll need to fill out the AIS reprogramming forms:

Hi, Am interested, but given that I am in NZ, and it needs to be reprogrammed, is it possible this can be done by service agents in this country. I have pretty much all Raymarine electronics on my boat so should adapt fine, just concerned about changing vessel details on device. Thanks, Kerry.
