Re: What to do with unneeded sails?

Will you take $75.00 plus shipping for the small triangular sail in the green bag that you posted a picture of?

Re: What to do with unneeded sails?

I might be interested in the one in the yellow bag that is 33x36x13. Is it a Jib? Does it have hanks or tape? What condition is it in?

No I will not take $75, I will only take $60, as I've decided to sell them all at $1/square foot, and this is about 60sqft, so $60.
PM your info, will followup there.

It is a main sail, has bolt-rope and one reef. It is in good condition.
$215. pics attached, although really too big to fit into a picture.

Re: What to do with unneeded sails?

As the forum response has proven, there's usually a good market for used sails.

The skipper I crew for just grabbed two used sails from someone who offered them at a great price.

To anyone with sails to sell, just find 10 identical or similar boats, tell them that you have sails to sell, and I bet you will have buyers.

I understand that you can donate them to SSCA they then give them to fishermen in Haiti among other places.

Re: What to do with unneeded sails?

Selling used sails is tough. gotta find the right buyer. I see them at boating swap meets for almost nothing.. still don't sell. But if someone needs your sail, it's worth a lot!
Ebay? Maybe... big audience.

I've got them on craigslist to use a shade covers, which I understand is real popular thing right now in the DIY TV shows.
A lot of interest, but no sails yet, so to speak

I could use them for my boat building shed, but kinda heavy for that.
Yeah, ebay is my next stop, but might call Alameda, so what they'll give me for the whole lot.

Re: What to do with unneeded sails?

I agree it with the suggestion to give Blue Pelican a call. You might also call Minney's in Newport Beach.
