Why would you need a KM3P instead of this one?? Because of the Tuff Torque coupling style, or for a beefier tranny??

Re: Yanmar/Kanzaki KM2P Trans

KM2P is a bit shorter than the KM3P...it doesn't match up with my Sillette / Sonic cat drive without reworking the coupling. I'm actually kicking around the idea of having a machine shop build a spacer to mate up to the trans output.

The km3p4, which is the one I have is larger because of the Torque Limitter coupling, which is a mechanical multi-plate clutches and meant to slip and reduce peak torque while engaging gears..You can just get this Torque Limitter from Kanzaki, or add a flexible coupling or make a spacer to compensate.. The coupling should be expensive, because the just The clutches and plates that goes inside this coupling goes around $450. I just had the opposite problem, and needed to install a regular coupling in order to save a few inches...

Re: Yanmar/Kanzaki KM2P Trans

No shorter in length not diameter.

I see what you mean with the KM3P4. But neither my KM3P or KM2P has that mechanical clutch pack on the back...just the small round couple plate.

From rear motor mount to couple plate the KM2P is 12MM shorter than the KM3P (according to the Yanmar factory manual). So that is the space I need to make up. I'm thinking I might be able to do it with a machined aluminium spacer disc...if so I'll likely pull this ad. Already put the ebay auction on hold.

Thanks for the replies!
