Crew Wanted: 170-ft Tallship Delivery Crew

The 170-ft, 3-masted tallship 'Mystic' is seeking additional delivery crew from St. Thomas, USVI to Newport, RI. Tentative departure date is between April 15 and May 5.

All candidates MUST be experienced sailors with offshore experience. Able to stand watches, assist on deck, and work as part of a team.

Must be located in the United States. Vessel willing to cover transportation, food expense, etc. for the trip.

There could be longer-term opportunities available.

** This is not for the casual sailor just looking for an adventure. **

When I wore a younger man's shoes, I would have jumped at this opportunity. Back in the day, I was XO of a small Brigantine that sailed the great lakes, and this would have been my dream job at the time. But now I have kids, a mortgage, and achy old bones. And somehow along the years that have passed, the idea of traversing the triatic stay, hand of over hand, has gone from super fun to super scary.

Thanks to all the people who replied to this post. We have the crew that we need for the passage. I have kept everyone's message for possible future opportunities.

For anyone that was offended that they didn't get a response. I hope you can understand that preparing a 170-ft tallship for a 2000 mile passage keeps one pretty busy. Also, as with any company, I was only responding to candidates that I wanted to speak with further.
