Not sure if effectively attaching real name onto an illegal activity via the internet is such a wise idea (assisting / facilitating often treated same same as the doing)..........Especially not when it involves folks with a track record of no sense of humour when it comes to "Furriners".

Twice by the coasties and once by CBP. Just one boarding for a quick safety inspection. I should have been more accurate though and said in about a years time, not all in this year 2013. Usually I cross unbothered all the time as well. All were out of Ft.Lauderdale, never been stopped out of Miami.

I was stopped twice late 2012 while fishing both times about 10 miles off port everglades Once by customs, they did not board just asked questions once by CG the did board ,full inspection, I could not find my flare gun They wrote a ticket and told me to go back to port. Both times they came right for me They were spoting by aircraft

Oh heck, Ram, she can get herself out of this without endangering anyone else's boat.

Take a bus to Fort Liqoirdale, take a day-cruise casino boat to Freeport. $99 if she has to buy the ticket, often free with junkets. No ID needed to board, no ID needed to debark, unless they've tightened that up recently. Sometimes, at least pre-9/11, no ID was needed to return to the States either. (Great border control.)

Once she's in Freeport, that's her problem and theirs.

If she was a Russian or Chinese nuclear or industrial spy, she'd already know how to do this, so I'm assuming she's no risk to my country. Have a nice trip.

I couldn't think of why "can't find flare gun" got translated into "manifestly unsafe" which is AFAIK the only reason the USCG can order you to return to port. But then I realized, if the skipper doesn't know where the required safety equipment is...one might call that manifestly unsafe, skipper isn't familiar with basic safety requirements. Sounds like a bit of a stretch to me though. They really ordered you back?

Just a thought, I have been boarded by the US Coast going into the Bahamas. A foreign national coming into the US by private yacht needs a visa in advance. Seems like the last time I brought a foreign national in without a visa "US Virgin Islands" they let her by a 24 hour pardon, ferry out to Tortolaand return by ferry "common carrier".

She needs to contact the nearest French consulate or the embassy in Washington, DC. For a minimal fee, the french government will give her clearance papers through US customs and back to a French territory. Caveat...if she has something to hide...if you get my drift...she will not want to pursue this route. The choice is hers. Do gooders, on here, sit this one out! Mauritz

We have a Happy Ending here folks, 2 guys I met here on CF have offered to bring her across & while that was in the works the Original Sailor who brought her here, I also met here on Cf some years ago-her former Boyfriend-have gotten back together- soooo there on there way to the Bahamas & hopefully Happily ever after !! I know they still loved each other !
