Atlantic crossing July2013 NovaScota to Portugal

If you are a salty dog - experienced sailor with blue water experience and of good character I would like to hear from you. I will be sailing my Ontario32 Yeoman1 who is currently on the East coast. The trip is Eastward, from Halifax via the Azores to Portugal and the Mediterranean. Departure is planned for the second week in July once the provisioning and final prep is complete. The boat is well set up for an ocean crossing having made the same trip 8 years ago, however I am updating the electronics and other systems.
I have been sailing for over 20 years, but would like another experienced sailor to join myself and another friend and perhaps my son (24 years old) to make a 4 person crew for the trip across.
I would like to spend a week or so in the Azores, before finishing the second leg to Europe. Some remuneration could be available for the right person.

Re: Atlantic crossing July2013 NovaScota to Portugal

I might be interested in that. I've delivered to the USVIs and in Portugal itself.

Have own foulies, PFB, harness, etc., plus diesel experience, radio certificate, coastal and celestial nav experience and I'm taking a marine medical course in a couple of weeks.

More to the point, I own and sail a Viking 33, another tough Ontario Yachts boat.

I am in Toronto and could meet you if you wish. I'm launching my other boat, a steel 41 foot passagemaker, in late April and am very busy until then, but wouldn't mind a voyage in the hottest part of the summer. Read the blog listed below: it gives pretty well all of the story.

PM me if interested or leave a note at the blog. My wife, 38, has crewed on an Ontario 32 delivery, oddly enough and might make just as good crew as myself. This winter, she's taking the diesel course!

Great, I'd like very much to meet you both and discuss options.
My cell 416 301 2262 best to contact me after 2pm as I'm teaching up until then.
Alternatively make an arrangement with my wife Sarah 905 763 9887
I'll check out your blog and contact you from there tomorrow.
Good winds, and good luck with the launch.

Re: Atlantic crossing July2013 NovaScota to Portugal

Hello there,

I am studying engineering in Montreal and can't wait to go sailing this summer. I have been sailing all my life and what better way to get back to Europe than on a boat. I am extremely motivated and have good water sailing">blue water sailing experience. I would love being part of that journey. If you're still looking for a crew PM me and i'll be more than happy to share more info.

Cheers,

Benoit

S/V Alchemy- I'm also in Toronto. I've done quite a few crew gigs through cruiserforum, too. I'm curious. Where is the diesel course being taught? Where in Toronto are you? My wife and I are in the Beach area.

The diesel course is being held at National Yacht Club. We are nearby.

You can d/l a form for it at the second item on this page:

National Yacht Club -- Learn To Sail

It's open to non-members.
