Post Captain & Crew for Delivery from South Fl to Either North Fl or VA

Hi,

I just bought a Morgan 382. The boat is in good condition, well equipped for ocean cruising (as it crossed the Atlantic and back), and while the survey found a few maintenance items, no major issues surfaced. The boat is currently located in Miami, FL.

I am looking to move it to either:
- Northern Florida, to the Green Cove Springs Marina in the St. John river, near Jacksonville, FL, and keep it there into storage until spring of next year.
- OR directly move it to Virginia, exact location yet unknown, where I have family who can take care of it until spring of next year.

I am available to do the passage, but would like to hire a captain & his crew to skipper the boat and teach me along the way. I have coastal sailing experience around LA & San Fran., and my U.S. sailing up to coastal nagivation, but I do not know the U.S. east coast, which is why I would need help.

I would like the move to be in August, using as a start or end either of the weekends of August 7th, 14th or 21st. I understand this isn't the perfect time of the year to move a boat along that coast due to the weather.

Please let me know whether you would be interested, your experience, qualification both as delivery captain and possibly as sailing instructor, and a ballpark figure of cost. You can either reply here or PM me.

Thanks
Philippe

Delivery Captain

Hey there. Sounds like you have a great boat. I am a USCG Licensed Captain (Master 100GT WITH sailing endorsement) with experience with owner assisted and non assisted deliveries on sailing vessel ranging from 20-125 feet; prodution boats to schooners. Also, a SEA Education Association alumni with a BA from a top tier college and am currently going for my unlimited license at SUNY Maritime.

I'm 36 years old with over 30 years experience on the water; great personality; also very good with teaching underway as well as managing the finance and logistics of an adventure delivery. I am also an owner (Bristol 32) and realize the affection and care needed on any sailing vessel.

Have you checked with Green Cove Springs to ensure they have a spot for you?

Hi All,

Thank you for all your replies.

I have hired Scott Watts from Seaworthy Solutions who, with his crew and I, did a great job in the past two weeks to repair and prepare the boat, then deliver it on time, from Miami, FL to Deltaville, VA. I would recommend Scott to anyone looking for a delivery captain and crew!

Thanks
Philippe
