Crew Wanted: Annapolis to Fl and Beyond

Looking for crew to join me in taking my boat from Annapolis to Florida and beyond. I have spent to much time in the cold so I am relocating south.

Boat: 1983 Hunter 34. I have lived aboard for the past 4 months and added comfort items to her...A/C, fridge, oven, etc.

Me: recently retired from the federal workforce after 38 years as a GI, civil servant and beltway bandit (contractor). Spent the last two years unemployed (thank God) sailing and outfitting my boat. I am ready to head south and escape the cold. I am a laid back smoker and enjoy cocktail hour once docked.

Plan: Leaving late September or early October down the ICW. Plan on spending most nights at a Marina. It will be a leisurely trip, if I find a fun place to dock may stay a day or a week.

I do not expect the crew to share boat expenses, you just need to cover your personal off boat expenses.

If you are interested let me know.

I am available for crewing at anytime, please check what kjango has to say about me, I am very familiar with the ICW and many offshore shortcuts that can take many hours of the ICW where it becomes boring and to long between stops.

I am 21 years old. My father first took me sailing on the Chespeake Bay when I was 6 months old; I have been sailing ever since. When I was 8, I began racing on both small boats ( dinghies), and Keel Boats. My keel boat racing experience includes a Cal 2-30, C&C 33, Express 35, J/22, J/24, J/29, J/30, J/35, J/42, Melges 24, Merit 25, Navy 44, and a Santa Cruz 70. My dinghy experience includes Lasers, 420s, 470s, JY15s, Thistles, and Optimists. I have done many distance races, including the Round Block Island Race and Vineyard race, both in 2008.

I have been cruising my entire life. My cruising experience includes a Pearson Ariel (similar to a Pearson Triton, only smaller), a Morgan 30, Jeanneau 35, Cal 2-27, Beneteau 35.7, and currently a Bayfield 32. I have sailed offshore many many times, including a trip this past November from Annapolis, Maryland to St. Maarten, in the Caribbean.

I began coaching sailing and racing when I was 13- in 2001. I have been teaching junior sailors every summer since then, teaching everything from 8 year old beginners (kids who have never set foot on a boat) to 16 year olds in advanced racing. I have taught at the Baltimore County Sailing Center for 6 summers (www.bcsailing.org), and this past summer taught at the Tred Avon Yacht Club, in Oxford Md (tayc.com). I have taught 420s, Lasers, Optis, and Hunter Xcites.

I am a Level 1 certified small boat instructor through US Sailing, and in May of 2007 became certified in Maryland as an Emergency Medical Technician. My EMT certification is current. I have two years experience in the community fire department as an EMT.

I wonder if my qualifications meet your requirements.

Thanks in advance. I can be reached via email at emt281101 (AT) gmail (DOT) com.
Thanks again,

Corey
