Re: Departing San Francisco to Hawaii early May 2012

Mark Here, 53 male active and fit
A little history on me: I grew up in Southern Europe as part of a military family and relocated to Southern California as a teen. I've been a life long blue water sailor and backyard boat builder, having built 3 sailboats and completed both transatlantic and transpacific sailings as working crew. I worked as a technical draftsman for Hughes Aircraft in the early to mid 1980's, then as a Purser for TWA until 2003. From 2003 until last April, I owned and operated a day charter business in Cocoa Florida. The vessel used was a 47' catamaran I had built over the previous 10 years. It came in handy when I got laid off post 9/11 and needed something to fill my time. In addition to doing my own vessel maintenance, I was responsible for marketing, reservations, accounting and crew training. I have a complete understanding of what is involved in piloting, maintaining and troubleshooting a vessels’ operating systems as well as the professional polish and interpersonal skills that are necessary to work with others. I am perfectly at home and comfortable in all types of environs; from an intimate family setting to that of a large charter operation. I am a few months into my latest boat building project, a 33' power cat I had designed in Australia.

I look forward to discussing, in person, my unique skill set and how I may contribute as part of the crew.
Also a complete resume can provided.

Regards. Mark Strauchman

Aloha skipper Kleger! My name is Gerritt and I am very interested in your return journey to California! I'm a local born Kauai boy who is looking for new and better life experiences abroad the open ocean. For the last year and a half I have been working on catamarans sailing up the Napali coastline. While this whole last year has been my introduction to sailing I have compiled a lot of useful knowledge. Through both maintance and onboard experience driving and sailing I have further been my first sailing experiences and now look to have someone guide me further into the pool. I am an experienced waterman and very diligent worker who is very compatible and easy going. Let me know if there is still a position available on your boat! Hope the sailing goes well, Alohaaaa! -gerr
