I don't use facebook and everyone is pushing it. It can get out of control quick. Even if you are not posting information, others do. They can tag your pictures and post them. I don't know about you but I don't want everyone and their brother viewing pictures I didn't post or approve of. Friends think they are sharing and it's all cool. My daughter started posting all kinds of party pictures on this site and I discontinued it. I am a consultant and I don't need people knowing everywhere I am on vacation or my off time. I like this site and I also like the sailing meetup sites. This would be a good place to find crew or post things.

I'm an avid geek and have avoided facebook for years due to personal politics... I'm now a member since 90% if my family communicate 80% of the time through facebook... and while I still think it generally sucks, it's a part of life these days. If you have family, friends, co-workers, or anybody else on the planet you want to keep in touch with, and they are not web savvy, they are probably on facebook.

500 million users can't be wrong.
let me say that again.
500 million users...

There will always be 'security' risks with giving out personal information on the internet, the trick is not to give that information out.... not too difficult.

Chances are, you are not important enough for anybody to want to hack your facebook account or exploit the information you volunteer to your freinds.

Now that I got that rant out!
The facebook crewfinder page is a great idea, if I were the type of person to 'like' stuff on facebook, I would totally 'like' the crewfinder page.

I'm with you boatman. I tell my daughter,"you know why I don't answer my phone now, because I got a life". She told me to get a life and I did. Good luck with that you can always de-activate.

Hey Phil ,just added you .Now you can have more then 2 friends lol.

Security on Facebook has been updated .You can lock you account down to where only accepted friends can see you and nobody can even search your name out . You can be completely anonymous

Re: Facebook Crew and Yacht Finder

Great idea.
Like CallMeCrazy, I find FB a necessary evil since most of my family is on FB. It does help to update everyone all at once, that is if I even post anything.

Re: Facebook Crew and Yacht Finder

I'm fine on facebook as I always wear my tin foil hat.
