pirate Grenada to Panama via ABC's

Looking for a couple or 1 or 2 guys to get our 65' Schooner to Panama. Planning on leaving around Oct. 20th and getting to the Canal by late Dec.. Stops in Los Rocas, Bonaire (wife and daughter will come for Thanksgiving), Caracau and San Blas islands, with a possible stop up in Boca de Toro. Once through the canal, circumnavigation done, I will be heading north to Ca.. Need at least a 2 month commitment and possibly more. Diving, touring the islands, and surfiing on the agenda. Minimal shared expenses.

Cheers, Greg

Re: Grenada to Panama via ABC's

Hey Greg this sounds super cool! I am just chilling the next 3 months until I start an internship for music therapy In January in Augusta GA and I'm working at Starbucks and not living the life I want to. I have no blue water or coastal cruse skills except from sailing books I have read and weekend trips on my little 13 foot day sailer. I know how to cook, I play music, I am an Eagle Scout and know lots about knots, survival, first air, cpr, I have been a life guard, and am handy around the house with wood and tools. 24 year old male, strong and willing to learn. At this moment I don't know if I can drop everything and go but encouragement and a disire to have me onboard would help.

I don't need or ask for much except to help your adventure and I will pull my weight and learn every day. Some questions if you are interested in talking with me more:

What costs are involved?
Where are you leaving from?
What do you expect from me?

Thanks man

Re: Grenada to Panama via ABC's

Hi Greg.
That sounds like an amazing trip and I would be very interested in maybe joining. I have no ocean sailing experience but am planning to join a licensed course in a couple of weeks, just to get a hold of the basics. I am a 25 y/o female biology student. I am currently finishing my Bsc. thesis and have a few months to spare before starting my masters in February. But I won't be done with the thesis and ready to go before the end of October though :/ Is that a deal breaker or can we work around it?
If that can be solved, let me know. you can read a little about me via this

write me if you think it can be worked out.

Re: Grenada to Panama via ABC's

Hi Greg,

Drop me a mail if you are still looking for crew. Garylarter@hotmail.com

I'm a 34 year old Brit, commercially endorsed yacht master offshore, just finished a season working as a skipper for the yacht week In Europe and currently in NYC. Looking at bobbing around until the season kicks off in the Caribbean after Christmas to get work.

I've done similar trips on my Columbia 40 in the past an know that getting on with the cap and crew is the main thing for taking on another crew for an extended period. So if you still need someone perhaps we could set up a Skype or call to have a chat and bash out the details?

Other than sailing my main passions are diving, surfing and writing. I founded and skippered a trip across the pacific in 2011 which was sponsored by scuba pro to take dive photography and research. Ridiculously, we also decided (2 of us) to hand steer the 10,000nm without any auto helm or wind vain, so I am well versed at long helm/watch shifts

Anyway, give me a shout if you are still looking, I'd love to get more info

Gaz

Re: Grenada to Panama via ABC's

Looking for just such an experience. Retired AF MSgt with a passion for sailing. All my experience is day sailing on boats under 34'. Limited experience but am very willing to work long hours and learn all I can. Most of my sailing was in the Indian Ocean and then the Chesapeake Bay. No overnight water sailing">blue water sailing experience but am planning on an Atlantic crossing sail in the next few years after learning enough to do it properly.

If not this trip, please keep me in your back pocket.

Thanks
