Help needed in NZ

Hi, I have bought a beautiful 36ft Hillyard classic yacht in Whangerai, North island, NZ. She is currently on the hard awaiting my return to her in early Dec 2012. I will need some experienced help to sail her from Whangerai to the bay of islands, where I intend to sail and live for the next few months. Is there anyone with experience of sailing interested in helping me out and having some fun during the NZ summer?

Re: Help needed in NZ

Hi There,

I would be keen to lend a hand as crew to get her up to the Bay of Islands. I crew up on the foredeck on two yachts for racing here in Auckland throughout the year. I have also completed one run up to the Bay of Islands from Auckland in the coastal classic. Have transport to get to and from Whangarei and the Bay. I have also completed my boatmasters and also my VHF course.

Look forward to hearing from you.

My home patch. I know the coast well having sailed it for 40 years. If you are short of crew I would be happy to help you. Regards, Roger.

021 922277. I'm heading to Brisbane shortly to deliver and skipper a 48fter in the Hamilton Island Race Week. Back end of August.

Sorry no. The owner will be on board with some others. There may be room to crew at Hamilton Island. No accommodation onboard because the owner and his wife will be on it. We (the crew) have onshore accom. You must be experienced racer to crew. No sightseeing.

Lovely part of the world. I toured N.Z 2 years ago. I am not experienced but make pretty good ballast!

Re: Help needed in NZ

Yes it is a great place to live. I have sailed in many parts of the world and here and the Great Barrier Reef would have to be my favourites. If you want to crew go along to any yacht club on a race day and go to the office a couple of hours before the scheduled start. They will usually be able to find someone looking for crew.
