L.A to Hawaii to Australia - Crew Wanted

33ft Ranger sloop leaving Long Beach, C.A about 12 July 2008 for a straight sail to Hawaii and then island hopping to Australia.
At this stage looking to see if there is any interest. Any experience level is fine...

Cheers

Wojo,

Will you consider crew for the leg to Hawaii only? What are the terms of the trip?

I live in Santa Barbara and sail out of Channel Islands Harbor so getting acquainted before departure should be easy.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Guys

Hi guys,

Thanks for responding to my post....
This post was to see if there was any interest in doing the passage in whole or part.

I won't be able to confirm the sailing schedule till the end of May. I anticipate doing a weeks worth of local sailing to thoroughly test the boat systems out before she departs for the Big Island which will be around the second week of July.

I'm basically looking for non smokers interested in crewing a 33 ft Ranger to Hilo Hawaii and further. I anticipate doing the trip to Brisbane Australia in 50 to 60 days...no risk taking, smooth sailing....

I'll supply the basics in supplies but if you have dietary requirements that will be left up to you. Watch keeping will be essential and some boat knowledge would be appreciated.

Things are still in the planning stages and as I said I won't be able to be 100% for a couple of weeks yet....looking forward to any comments you guys might have....

Cheers,

George

George,

I would be interested. I am sailing from Galveston to Vera Cruz in early June and should be available by the end of June. I have pretty open availability to make the entire trip.

A little about myself. I am 23 and taking a break from school. I am studying Aerospace Engineering, so I know a thing or two about the mechanics of sailing. I am a laid back guy and I can be quite entertaining at times. I have been sailing for a few years and know how to handle a decent size boat (I sail quite a bit on our 44' Pacific Seacraft). I am still learning alot, so I am by no means experienced enough to consider myself an expert, but I listen well and can fully operate a boat under normal circumstances.

Oh yea, I am also quite handy with tools. I pride myself on being able to fix just about anything (engines, computers, appliances).

A few questions:

Will this be a paid position, and how much?
What are the amenities on the boat?
Total duration of the trip?
Duties expected?
Length of stay at port?
A little about the current crew/passengers.

Thanks,
Stu

HI Stu

A few questions:

Will this be a paid position, and how much?
Sorry mate this is for someone that wants to hitch a ride so I'm afraid it's not a paid position
What are the amenities on the boat?
She has hot and cold water, head, three auto pilots and radar..
Total duration of the trip?
About 50 to 60 days to Brisbane
Duties expected?
Keep watch and cook for yourself
Length of stay at port?
It's pretty much a delivery run cause I have to back for work but it will all depend on the weather.
A little about the current crew/passengers.
No one at the moment except me the owner

If you have further questions please PM me.

Cheers
George

I have no experience boating except that I've been on a boat, but I would love to hitch a ride to Hawaii if possible.

Let me know if that is at all an option.

Thanks

I have sailed once in Thailand, and I have trying to sail ever since. I know that doesn't put me high on your list but maybe if you get desperate. I'm 26, male, i have experience on carpentry, rock climbing and I have a lovely singing voice
