Pam,

I plan to retire within the next year or so, and am looking to buy a sailing cat such as a older Privilege 37/39, or maybe a Seawind 1000 XL and live aboard full time travelling.
I have no sailing experience, but I am experienced.
Have you ever been experienced?
Maybe I could be your cabin boy/partner?

I belong to a group called "Singles on Sailboats" with 700 members living near the Chesapeake Bay. We have 137 different sailboats in the club, skippered by men and women. While it is a social organization, we all share a common interest in sailing; here on the Bay, on extended cruises, and bareboat chartering all over the World, including Greece, Turkey, Canada, the South Pacific, and of course the Caribbean. See singlesonsailboats.org or pm me if you'ld like to visit. Most of us are around 55 years old, plus or minus 20!

HI I am new to the site. I have owned 3 cats, Lagoon 38, PDQ 34, and a Leopard 43 with a lady friend. She decided she did not like the investment and wanted to be on land, so I decided to buy another boat by myself. I am with in budget and would like to know what the Leopard 38 is like, besides being smaller, compared to the Leopard 42 or 40. Trying to see if buying up is worth the extra money. I do know that the Leopard 38 was originally sold as a charter boat.

Any information or experience that you have would help.

Thanks,

Stan

Aloha Captain Pam,
Welcome aboard! It looks like you've gotten lots of replies already and many cautions. I really wish you well on the sale of your boat and finding a good cruiser.
It sounds like your So Pac cruising was fun.
Kind regards,
JohnL

It must be a good organization. A good friend of mine met a sailor gal there. They got married and sailed off to the Caribbean.

Pam, if you are looking for a long-term sailing partner try Love Sail - www.lovesail.co.uk.

MarkJ - the ratio of sailing men to women is approximately 43,927 : 1, which makes for 43,926 reasons to be picky, and, sadly, 43,905 of those are very, very good reasons.

Well.... as there's been no activity since the brief initial flurry in May '08 I figure we're the only folks reading this stuff.....

Re: Lady Sailor Wants to Meet Gentleman Sailor

Pam, I am a retired paramedic/divemaster/divemedic gentleman sailor. I recently purchased a 28.5 foot British built 'Sea Rover' that I am outfitting for long planned circumnavigation. Currently located in S.E. Alaska, with plans to sail South this Summer, or Fall. Planning to replacie electric motor installed by previous owner with a dependable, powerfull, diesel engine. Sailboat is extremely well built and I've been outfitting it to handle the roughest seas. It is a three keeled (6.5 ton) boat designed for anchoring near shore, letting tide go out, while allowing vessel to remain upright even when unanattended. Checking into having new set of sails made in Port Towsend, WA (from new main of 50' sailboat I previously owned). Then sailing futher South to pick up and install wind vane steering system and additional sails from demasted sailboat of nephew living in Mexico's Gulf of California, Baja area. I have heavy weather sailing experience obtained by sailing previosly owned sailboat during hurricane conditions, in Gulf of Mexico, in preparation for long planned circumnavigation. Maybe we can combine our fondness of sailng & experience with our crusing plans. If interested email me at: marshall.divemedic.hunter@gmail.com
If not, good luck in finding your sailboat and gentleman sailor partner.
Best wishes, C.Hunter/eom.
