Miami to Bahamas, maybe to Puerto Rico

Hi, we had crew lined up and they cancelled on us, so we're looking for a third to join us. We plan to depart Miami for the Bahamas sometime after February 15th, either just cruising thru the Bahamas or if we find someone interested we would love to go all the way to Puerto Rico, following Bruce van Sant's gentleman's guide route. We do have to be back at work in mid-April so that may determine how far we go too.

The boat is a 1981 Kadey-Krogen 38, a shoal-draft cutter. Very stable boat, the shoal draft will be great in the Bahamas. My husband and I are moderately experienced sailors, I grew up sailing and recently we have both done ASA courses 101-104, a few weeks bareboating, and last year took this boat thru the Keys. Boat is in excellent shape, new mainsail this year!

Owners have aft cabin, crew will have private v-berth.

We are from Washington state and culturally are pretty 'left-coast'

Please email me at skalitude at gmail dot com if available and interested!

Now you have me questioning my impressions of what is "culturally West coast" and I HAD to google it: (as it turns out I was only partially correct!)

Re: Miami to Bahamas, maybe to Puerto Rico

thanks everyone for all the responses! at this point we have someone lined up at least for the start of the trip.

to Krogensailor - yes we know of the KK forum! it seems there are several being worked on in the Naples area, we've heard of others over that way. We just met Walkabout in Vero the other day, they've owned theirs since 1988 and have crossed the Atlantic and back. We've only had ours a year but love her already.

Currently in Whistler (Vancouver). Grew up sailing in Solent / South Coast of England.

Lots of experience in this part of the world on several trips: Carolinas to Marsh Harbour, Exumas to Marsh, Exumas to Turks & Caicos rtn, Exumas to Savannah. (As well as Europe, Asia, Azores -> Med). Sometimes crew, sometimes skipper. Vessels were monos and cats: 36-51'.

Have CYA Advanced Sailing, ISAF Offshore Safety, Sea Survival, VHF licence.

Not available for duration, but could join you later. PM or email nkilfoy at gmail dot com if you are still looking.
