Re: New York to the Med - round 2

Hi Trish,

My Friend Chrissy and I were on our way to Australia from Honduras through the canal but we have encountered major engine problems and the Captain has decided to call it off. Chrissy is from the UK and has many hours of sailing experience. She has crossed the Atlantic, sailed around the Med and many others. She would be happy to contribute to costs. her email if your interested is chrissysnowhite@yahoo.com
Thanks!!!

Thanks
Trish

Wow I can't believe people would be willing to pay $200 a week to crew...

Hey there matee. Wondering bouts yer passage to the lands unknown. Be it far from me bones to travel by yer star, as I have passed it onest er twice me self and onest not at all be it big monster that took us down.

Rest the souls of merry men to travel down the sea, yet we find the brightest star and wish upon the dream. Shall it be a tail to tell the wind that swept cross the blue, filled the dreams and drowned a few.

May ye find yer and way clear and true with a friend to spell you off a few. Txflyguy40@aol.com

Hey Trish, Please do a follow up as I am interested in your adventure. Just curious, have you ever posted or written about your passages on Sail magazine? Or one of BOB's friends? just curious.

Re: New York to the Med - round 2

Hi Chris,
The short answer is no. I have had to abandon my plans due to crew unreliability.
Thanks Trish

Re: New York to the Med - round 2

Trish,
Well, I am out of the Navy in early 2014 and would be available for at least 6 months. So if you reconsider, let me know. wrldsrfr249@gmail.com. I've made several transoceanic passages on gas turbine ships, so can do navigation and maintenance. Some sailing experience, but not my strength. And common sense too.

Hey Trish, you still here??

I thought you'd have been long gone by now.
Crew unreliability? That never happens!

What are your plans now?

Re: New York to the Med - round 2

Hi Cliff
It's been quite the experience.
I left Newport yesterday headed for Annapolis.
It's been hard to come to terms with & the timing was perfect, weather stable. All that prep only to be let down by a paid for delivery captain & one crew who got the woblbles after the first night out but didn't think to mention it until the 11rh hour.
I'm not sure about where to from here.
Good to hear from you. Hope you & yours are well.
Trish

Re: New York to the Med - round 2

I know that your trip has already been made, but I did want to introduce myself. I am Shawn : 27 year old male, very active, healthy, and capable. I have some experience sailing, about three weeks or so, but love it with all my soul. I do not have a lot of money, however time, and LABOR I have plenty of. If you ever just need good able bodied crewman I would like to hear from you. Sorry if this email seems silly so far after your original post.

Re: New York to the Med - round 2

Trish,

Your boat might be full by now. I have about 7,000 nm, mainly in the Med (where I keep my own boat). Please send me a message and I will send you my resume. Always good to have in reserve in case you ever find yourself short of crew again.
I am 51, Dutch, financially independent, live in New Zealand, but spent most time on my boat in Greece. Almost always have time (although currently delivering a new 44'Helia catamaran from La Rochelle to Southern Spain).
