Sailor Hangout in Ft. Lauderdale

I am looking for a bar or hangout where sailors go where you can catch a ride to Bahamas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not many sailors left in Lauderdale. Most of the Liveaboard docking areas were turned into high priced condos during the RE Boom. Your best bet would probably be Quarter Deck off Cordova and 17th St Cause Way.

Used to be the Quarter Deck, & Durty Harry's on SE 17th, and anywhere who had a free buffet (summers only) up the New River.

Looking for a ride, I'd think you'll want to walk the docks.

You could also check in with SSCA, headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale up on Commercial. They have a weekly breakfast gathering on Sunday mornings and a monthly pot luck dinner. Nice group of people, mostly couples. You might get some leads on rides from someone there.

Usually plenty of boat bums here.
