pirate Something Unique, Different and Adventurous !

Friends,

We are currently working on a very low-budget, extremely important documentary film project (our first) highlighting rising sea levels and survival in the Pacific 'wilderness'. We are two young, eager, professional, strong, dynamic and adventurous men seeking to crew on a boat (of any kind) for passage from Tahiti north at the end of September / beginning of October 2011.

Our project is The Rising Tide Project: Warriors for Earth Surviving in Isolation. Our mission through CruisersForum is to secure transportation for the documentary project from Tahiti to in uninhabited island approximately 450 nautical miles due north where we intend to be left!

If you - or anyone you know - may be interested in being involved, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know!

Thanks!!

HAHA! Didn't expect all of these questions right off the bat! Leaving the same way - we have multiple connections, but part of the project is to deal with that very issue as it occurs. We have very loose dates for a departure, but we are exploiting various avenues for the project's development.

Keep abreast of everything at THE RISING TIDE - HOME This will be updated and blogged and referred to daily as a portal for the project during it's duration, through which communication in isolation will be permitted for production purposes.

East or West(Palau)? Oh, wait, the Gilbert Caroline!

ABluefish(Adam?),
One of these South Pacific islands is part of my "bail out of society" strategy, if I don't want to continue to Davao. I figured I'd just beach the boat, salvage the parts & walk around naked, drinking out of coconuts, for the rest of my life. My wife isn't quite so enthusiastic about this idea. I applaud you & your mate, , but I'd bring at least one woman, each. Don't forget, Dan's a nerd!

Have a great one!

LOL my wife wants to know if you're suicidal! I just read her some of the Wiki-info. Caroline Island - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
But, I think it's genius, while you're young. Suggest you take an EPIRB, though.

Re: Something Unique, Different and Adventurous !

a falmouth coastguard spokesman said today: 'When the British sailor arrived, he was was met by the desperate and starving islanders who had not been delivered any supplies for months.
Remote: He found them on Kanton Island, an atoll between Hawaii and Fiji
'The supply ship which should have brought them provisions was stuck at a nearby island. They had been living off just coconuts and any fish that they could catch for months.'
The coastguard said there was no way of knowing who would have found the starving population, had not Mr Bond stopped off on there.
Richard Williams, Falmouth's Watch Assistant said: 'The British sailor has given the islanders all the supplies that he can spare from his 33 foot yacht.

'We are now working with the Americans to drop supplies or land on the island. As the island was used by the Americans and the British during the war it does have a run way.
It is the largest, northernmost and sole inhabited island of the Phoenix Islands, in the Republic of Kiribati, located in the South Pacific Ocean between Fiji and Hawaii

'We don't normally get requests like these from British sailors, but hopefully we will be able to help the islanders to get the supplies that they need.

'So far, we have been given a shopping list of provisions such as cooking fat, rice, sugar and flour which we have passed on to the Americans.'
As well as being a delivery skipper, Mr Bond is reported to have worked for the disaster relief charity, ShelterBox, based in Cornwall.
Life saver: Mr Bond, right, gave the desperate islanders any supplies he could before contacting the authorities

stopped near there last year, you may find it very difficult to get ashore,or off for that matter during the tradewind season(april-nov)

food wise there should be plenty of coconut crabs, crayfish and sea tern eggs,i would take a gill net for fishing in the lagoon.
every thing else you need to take, with sufficient reserves!!! +3months.

there is a ship that does the round trip from tarawa, kanton, washington, and christmas island, though can be irregular.

suggest going on a survival course before undertaking this venture, and lots of anti-biotics,as coral cuts get infected easily .

have fun

What "rising sea levels"? Even if there is global warming, you will have to be there the rest of your lives to document it.

Thanks for your thoughts. That said, the purpose of this thread is to find a boat on which to crew to get to the island. Perhaps we should set up a separate thread to comment on the content of the documentary, but here we're trying to focus on crewing matters.

Noted, though - thank you.
