I'm a 56 y/o male, excellent health and free as a bird and no baggage, looking for experience sailing before I buy my own live-aboard sailboat. I can go anywhere, anytime and will consider paying my own expenses for the experience. If you need crew (or know anyone who does) e-mail me at: garthcrider at comcast dot net.

LET's GO !!!!!

You have to be a little more specific

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Grunzter: Do you really know what you want? If you are really looking for a crew, then they need to have some idea of your itinerary and what they can expect. Here is what I'm looking for:

I am a mature stable professional, non-smoker, extremely moderate drinker, married 37 yrs, looking to build miles. Navy veteran (bridge watches). ASA 101, 103, & 104 certifications.

I can get away for a week or two this fall and would be willing to help with an East Coast repositioning cruise or something similar. I can pay my own way.

Respond here or email me at eakerberg_1999 at yahoo dot com

eakerberg - bear in mind this wasn't really a crew wanted post as much as it was meant as just a general question asking people where they find crew.

My itinerary is I have none. Other than a stop at the boat show, dismal swamp, and Elizabeth city, the plan is to take it day by day and take our sweat ass time.

I'm just 2 days from Annapolis now, so looks like I'm covered at least until NC, but have a feeling my friend will do the whole trip.

I just started a Facebook group called Crew and Yacht Finder. Since a lot of people have facebook I thought it might be a good way to bring crew and captains together. Please join the group if you have Facebook and post your Crew Wanted or Crew Available ad on the wall. There is a possibility that this could become a large group in the future.

Thanks in advance,

Brennan

After the last few, it con only get better...I hope.

So, anyone know a good welder in Annapolis? Maybe a rigger? Or any suggestions on a good pair or lifting slings to hoist a Walker Bay up on davits?

If you have a well-found boat and are yourself reasonably experienced then you might get good crew from Offshore Passages Opportunities (see Offshore Passage Opportunities: Halesite, New York ). I've had a number of great experiences with OPO as both crew and taking crew aboard. There is an annual fee, but you get what you pay for don't you? The norm is that crew get to and from the boat and the owner pays boat costs and food, but for a nice boat heading in an attractive direction cost sharing or even a fee does crop up. I recommend them highly.
