42 TPI water in mast

The base of our TPI mast always has water around it. Could be coming from the top (rain) or the halyards. How have others dealt with it ? Can I drill a hole in the lower mast or base ?

Drill 6mm holes at or as near as possible to lowest point of the mast, on the centreline front and back or on either side near the middle. Avoid drilling through the base block and of course don’t hit the wiring conduit.

Re: 42 TPI water in mast

We have a 42 tpi. The mast is open at the bottom, and there is a conduit hole through the mast step into the anchor locker. We have never had a problem with water build up in the base
