39: Depth sounder is intermittent

Have an Airmar smart tri multi sensor depth, temp and speed unit. The spa works fine, don’t bother with temp, but depth spOunder works intermittently, blinking on and off and then reads depths for a while, then stops reading. Any suggestions???

I have no experience with airmar, but my Kenyon had similar symptoms. It was due to current drop when I would run the engine.

Depends on how deep the water is. Many depth sounders will lose the bottom at somewhere between 200 and 500 feet, and jump around between no reading and the bottom of the keel.
