Factory-installed inverter

Any owner with factory-installed inverter? If so, can you tell what manufacturer and model? I paid 3200+ euros (more than $4300 in late 2013) for one for my '14 Lagoon 421 and ended up with aftermarket Xantrex PROWatt SW 2000i (less than $600 online), installed incompetently be dealer. (I assume all smaller Lagoons (380 - 450) would have same/similar inverter.)

Re: Factory-installed inverter

I cant help with the brand. Our order list says

INVERTER 12 / 220V - 2000 VA 3,108 € 0.00 €

We didnt order it but if a 2000VA inverter was installed I guess its hard to say they didnt install it. I would have thought it would be a factory install and warranty so maybe the dealer is trying to make a buck on the side. Is the dealer not helpful with making it operable?

Re: Factory-installed inverter

We did not order an inverter on our 2014 L39 but I did see a L39 at the boat show">Miami Boat Show with a factory installed MasterVolt inverter.

Thanks Mardi, that's what I thought. Monte, yes, once I pointed out all deficiencies of installation, dealer promised to fix it. We'll see. Still, $4300 for that feels like ripoff

Re: Factory-installed inverter

Some things are more economical to install afterwards, some to have the factory install like AIS, radar, folding props etc. not so much the inverter...

Re: Factory-installed inverter

Boat manufacturers have a profit built in when they sell to dealers. Retail pricing is about 20% - 28% on most small boats. The dealer installed options have a mark up from 50% - unlimited. Guess where they make the biggest profit.

..for that kind of money you would ask for a mastervolt with a competent installation...
That xantrex is not precisely the smartest guy of the class...

Re: Factory-installed inverter

My experience is you need to specify what you want and get a price. Never assume the MFR or aftermarket install will be a good deal, or even well done, or even anything short of a rip off $ wise .

Yes I think I'd be headed that way as well if there's an obvious quality and price difference between the two. We installed an after market victron 1600W in La Rochelle for €1500 installed.

Re: Factory-installed inverter

I believe all Group Benetau brands use MasterVolt inverters as the OEM currently. That is what came in my Jeanneau and I have seen it in several late model Lagoons as well.
