Fuel tank inspection caps

Recently purchased a 2018 Lagoon 400. After filling the fuel tanks a few times the inspection caps on both fuel tanks cracked. When I contacted Lagoon they had not heard of this problem but then they confirmed that some of the inspection caps may react with diesel. Please check your fuel tanks.

Re: Fuel tank inspection caps

I am uncertain how much info the group companies share around?

Beneteau definitely know about this. Seems like there was a faulty batch.

Part No 20880.

In my experience - they keep quiet (CNB group, i.e Jeanneau, Beneteau, Lagoon). But once they recognise an issue with faulty part they replace it readily.
Had similar experience with faulty shower pumps when 3 pumps failed within a month after start of use.
Than I have learned about similar experience from a sister boat.
Agent didn't have any notification from Lagoon but once he approached them on our behalf they have immediately sent 3 replacement of better quality.

Re: Fuel tank inspection caps

I know many Lagoon 42's had faulty fuel caps. There have been several cases of the caps cracking and gallons of diesel going into the bilge.

Lagoon sent out replacement caps last year around April or May.

I think caps on several other Lagoon models were faulty as well. The new caps seem to be OK.
