Gear and Throttle Cables

Can anyone let me know the best place to get Gear & Throttle cablesin Australia

Also if any 440 owners can let me have the length of cables required it would be appreciated - So far from another source I have been told the Gear Cable on the Starboard engine is 36 feet.

As I am doing the Gear cables is it worth doing the throttle at the same time, even though they seem fine.

Re: Gear and Throttle Cables

Can't help with the Australia bit, but most cables have a 33c designation. However, there are also delux cables and I use the Quicksilver type which are easily available from Mercury or Mariner dealers. They are slightly thinner, more flexible and much lower friction. So on a power boat they are a delight to use if you are constantly changing the throttle position.

On a yacht the lower friction will be worth while for a long cable run. You can see the difference in price on this UK page:

https://www.asap-supplies.com/search...throttle+cable

Would I change both? yes whilst you are at it. You really don't want a cable breaking in the middle of nowhere, at night, coming into a difficult harbour.

Yeah I had a quick look at the engine end but could not find it - I'll have to get in a take a close look in behind the panels where it will be easier to see hopefully will be.
