L39 Leaking Salon Hatches Solution Found at Last

Morning , I had a problem with rainwater leaking in through the 3 small oblong hatches in the front salon main window, this happens when its raining hard and the water comes down from the coach roof and flows directly over the top of the hatches , the water gets in even when tightly closed and eventually finds its way through to bilge via the window sills as water does , i tried deflecting the water away using a lip under the coach roof but with the large amount that flows during hard rain nothing seemed to work, so i looked for a product that might help and found these Port Visors from Seaworthy Goods in Florida and ordered 3 to try , I've just fitted them and the first night after fitting them it rained very hard and worked 100% to deflect all water away from the hatches direct to the deck, nothing got in so very happy with the product and highly recommend them if you have the same problem, i fitted mine a little higher than normal to allow maximum air flow plus a bonus is they look factory fitted and pretty smart in a dark tint which matches the windows .Hope this helps Regards Gary

Interesting. An easy "fix" for older leaking ports.

Did you check your gaskets on the ports? When they get old and cracked, and even dirty, they will leak. Often it's just a matter of cleaning the rubber seal and treating it with Armor All or similar.

Morning ,they are only a few years old but I did try cleaning and treating the gaskets, but i think its a design fault and probably not made for the volume that flows over them when raining hard, the water gets directed by a center channel in the coach roof which in turn creates a huge flow over the salon windows but problem now solved . there are the same hatches on the hulls and don't ever have a problem with them , its just the large amounts of water flow over the hatches that caused the issue when raining hard.
